Back to School Campaign

Back to School Campaign Artwork
As part of the Back to School Campaign, students were asked to create artwork about the importance of caring for their textbooks.

The Back to School Campaign is sponsored by UNICEF under the Education Transition Fund. The goal of the Back to School Campaign is to create a positive school environment and ensure that all primary schools have the required textbooks, including English, Math, Shona or Ndebele and Environmental Science. The campaign also uses creative and performing arts to raise student and community awareness around the importance of maintaining their textbooks and school materials.

As a partner with the Back to School Campaign, Umzingwane AIDS Network hosted official book distribution ceremonies in each of the 36 primary schools in Umzingwane. The ceremonies included an art competition, performances, and education sessions on the theme of "Creating a Better School Environment". Based on the theme, Imidlalo Productions, the performance division of Ingwe Studios, created a Children First's "Child Rights Radio" episode about children's right to education. The program aired on national radio and has since been adapted to Child Rights CD Listener programs.
